A couple of weeks back we were invited to try out the Red Dog Saloon restaurant over on Bold St here in Liverpool. Being no stranger to stuffing my face, I was more than happy to accept the invite.
I’d walked past the restaurant a few times in the past but had never taken the chance to try it out, this is something I deeply regret!
The restaurant recently underwent a refurbishment which now sees it’s interior designed in a classic wild west themed fit-out. Cowboys, cocktails and BBQ, a winning combination for me.
We kicked off the meal with a cocktail each, I went for the Cherry Mash Sour, which was pretty strong but I didn’t expect anything less opting for a bourbon based drink, but it tasted nice nonetheless!
Swiftly moving onto the starter we got a classic for us, sharing nachos, these were really good and different to any others I’ve had in the past. Usually nachos are served up with a sweet, almost artificial salsa and chilli beef but the nachos at Red Dog are authentic and full of flavour.
We moved onto the mains and I opted for the brisket after hearing good things from friends and also after watching quite a few episodes of Man v Food in my time. The meat was tender and juicy, it also came with mac ‘n cheese and fries which were the perfect compliment. Maren went for a burger with Texas loaded fries, which give our holy grail bacon loaded fries a run for their money!
It was safe to say after the meal and drinks we were both very satisfied and satiated. Even for known dessert fiends we opted out of that one, reluctantly. There was (albeit blurry) smiles all around…
Overall we had a great time, as I mentioned the new decor is great and does a great job of coaxing you into a wild west scenario with food just as bold as the street it finds itself placed on. I would certainly recommend a visit and will be back should I get the craving of some good ol’ brisket and BBQ in the near future (and I will!).
If you want to try Red Dog Saloon out for yourself they are located on Bold St in Liverpool, L1 4HR. You won’t regret it!
