One of the most important ingredients in terms of fitness success is finding an exercise that you love. If you do not enjoy your workout sessions, you will soon lose motivation and interest, making it incredibly difficult for you to reach your goals. One of the best ways to make your fitness journey easier is to find exercises that you love to begin with so that you will stick with it. With that in mind, read on to discover some of the different ways you can find the right exercise for you.
Choose something that is convenient
When it comes to exercising, you need to make sure that you fit it into your schedule. After all, working out takes time. You don’t only have the exercise itself to factor in, but you also need to allow time for commuting, changing, and showering too. This can leave us feeling like we simply do not have enough time to work out. This is why you need to choose something that is convenient and you actually need to factor it into your schedule. This will make you enjoy it more because you know that you actually have the time.
For me I have a gym within a 5-minute walking distance so time management is very easy for me. I also have access to another private gym that is included with my apartment complex which is perfect for quick cardio sessions (not that I ever do them!).
Recruit a friend
Exercising is always more fun when you have someone to do it with. Speak to your friends and find out whether any of them would be interested in joining a class with you. This can help you to feel much more comfortable when exercising, and so you will enjoy it more. Not only this, but you will find have a good laugh too and it gives you something different to do when meeting up with the people you love, rather than going out for something to eat or going for a cocktail!
As I have mentioned before, I used to train with a workout partner, more recently I visit the gym with my girlfriend, we both motivate each other and make sure we actually go. Also, there is also the chance you will be more open to trying new exercises, my old training partner used to research different methods of training and we would always end up trying new variations of a certain exercise.
Try a new class
There is no better way to find out what exercises and workouts you love than experimenting with a variety of different classes. This is the only way you are going to find out what you like! Plus, you are going to have a lot of fun in the process. Exercising doesn’t always mean attending the gym, there are so many different classes today. You can even dance your way to total fitness if that suits you! Book a session at a premier dance studio and you will have so many different styles to choose from, including ballroom, salsa, cha-cha, tango, foxtrot, waltz, rumba, merengue, Latin, and much more. You then have dance workouts, like Zumba. And, this is just one area of exercise! What about boot camps or HIIT?
I haven’t tried any classes but we have spoke about trying out a yoga class to improve our flexibility and core strength. I should probably take more advantage of the classes that are free to attend with my gym – a feature that many gyms now have!
So there you have it: some pieces of advice regarding finding an exercise that you love so that you will find it much easier to achieve your fitness goals. There is no denying that this makes a massive difference in terms of motivation levels and the speed at which you achieve your fitness goals. Good luck!
