Summer Ideas for Treating the Special Person in Your Life

During the summer, you’re not always guaranteed nice days. But there’s always a few to enjoy them, even when they’re quickly followed by thunderstorms. If you have a special person in your life, a sunny day is a great time to treat them to something fun – whether it’s your partner or your parent.  There are lots of ways to enjoy the sunshine and make the most of being outside without getting cold or rained on. If you want to treat someone this summer, take a look at some of these ideas for a fun day out in the sun.

Take a Hamper for a Picnic

Buy a hamper full of fun and delicious treats, and it becomes both a gift and something to do. You could fill up a picnic basket on your own if you have some ideas for things to put in it. But it’s also easy to buy a hamper if you want one that’s full of indulgent treats. One of the best gift ideas for her is to buy a luxury hamper containing chocolate, biscuits, wine, tea or even gin and tonic. If you want to build your own hamper, it could have Pimms, strawberries and cream and other summer treats.

Find an Outdoor Bar or Restaurant

When the sun comes out, all the bars, pubs and restaurants that have outdoor space put all their summer seating out. One of the best things to do is to find a rooftop bar, especially if you’re in a city where you can get a great view of the skyline.

I’d recommend Panoramic 34 if you’re looking for stunning views of the city in Liverpool
The cakes aren’t half bad either!

Failing a swanky bar, there’s always the garden of a charming pub or perhaps the patio of a restaurant or cafe. Whether you have a three-course dinner or you just stop for a couple of drinks (and maybe some chips or cake), it’s good to be outdoors for once.

Try Something Active

Another way to make the most of the sunshine is to get active. You can do anything from going for a gentle stroll to trying out something a bit more wild. Find your nearest watersports centre and try some standup paddleboarding or even white water rafting. I live right across from the watersports centre here in Liverpool, I am yet to give wakeboarding a go though. If you’re away on holiday I find just walking around the place you’re in and exploring is just as rewarding if not more than planning an actual activity.

Go for a bike ride or maybe even do something silly like paintballing or laser tag. Of course, if you’re looking for a way to keep cool, a swim at your nearest pool is a good idea. You might also enjoy some wild swimming, just make sure it’s safe to do so!

See an Open-air Movie

Open-air cinema events are often available during the summer months. Check to see if any parks close to you are hosting anything of the sort. It’s a great way to enjoy a local park in a new way, perhaps see a film that you love in a new way too, and have some drinks and snacks as you watch. If you find anything that you’re interested in, be quick before it sells out. The events tend to be popular, especially when they show film favourites.

One final thing that seals the deal of any summer ever, treat them to some ice-cream!

You don’t need to be a genius to find fun ways to spend a summer day with a special person. Make the most of the sunshine and spend it outdoors.
