Afternoon tea is something I’ve never tried, being someone who doesn’t even like tea I always thought there would be no point trying it as half of the experience would be pointless for me. However we decided to try it out and we did it in style. Panoramic 34 is situated close to the Liver building / Pier head in Liverpool, it offers a dining experience from the 34th floor (hence the name) which provides some fantastic views and photo ops – as long as the weather isn’t dull and grey like it was for us…
We decided to go with the standard afternoon tea which was priced at £22 per person, they also offer a luxury afternoon tea which is served with champagne but as it was 1pm we thought we would play it safe and swerve the alcohol. The food was served on a 3-tier stand and filled with mouthwatering treats.
The sandwiches were great, salmon and cheese, pastrami and pickle, egg and cress and turkey and cranberry – right in time for Christmas.
The main star of the show was definitely the cakes and the variety of them. from mulled wine macarons to mini mince pies. After all the sandwiches, I was beginning to get a bit full, but the cakes were so tempting I couldn’t help but indulge in them. by the time i got round to the lemon glass pots I was so satiated…but I had to keep eating!
The mini mince pies were great too, easy enough to take down in one bite but packed full of flavour.
Quite a short post but I think the pictures speak for the food itself! I would definitely recommend a trip here if you’re in Liverpool, the staff were great, even offering to take pictures for us and ensuring our needs were catered to. Just be sure to try and pick a clear day to make sure you get the best view possible! I am intrigued by their dining menu so I think a trip back in the future may be on the cards.
