If you’ve got a fitness goal or any general interest in fitness/exercise, the chances are you’ve dabbled in the supplementation game. I certainly have, and when I got the chance to try out Herbalife’s new Pro24 and CR7 Drive I was more than happy to give them a try.
Supplements definitely aren’t essential and you can reach your goals with eating a whole-foods balanced diet with ease, however supplements do add that extra convenience for the time-strapped folks or just the lazy (me).
One of the most widely used supplements in the fitness world is the protein supplement. Because who really has time to meal-prep 3 chicken breast, 2 tins of tuna and a partridge in a pear tree every day? Personally, I add 2 scoops of protein supplement into my morning smoothie for an instant hit of the all-important amino-acids first thing in the morning. This is exactly what I’ve been doing with the Herbalife Pro20 Select.
The product itself comes in a vanilla flavour, which at first I was preparing myself for a bland taste but that isn’t the case at all. This flavour actually beats many other similar products I have tried in the past, certainly not what I expected for plain ol’ vanilla! The mix-ability is on point and blends really well with my smoothie. I am a firm believer in my macronutrient goals being optimal to achieve my fitness goals and this product ticks all the boxes.
20g protein for optimal muscle growth and repair after training, combined with 6g of essential fibre to keep your digestive system in tip-top shape, not to mention the inclusion of 1/3 of your recommended daily intake of 24 vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and calcium for general bodily health. Not to mention the product is gluten free and 100% vegetarian!
The other product I tried was the CR7 Drive, this is the product that Cristiano Ronaldo himself has created and endorsed. Now, I’m not going to be playing in-front of a hundred thousand Madrid fans every week but the electrolyte-packed re-hydration drink certainly does what is required of it.
Again, Herbalife have smashed the flavour of another product with their new Herbalife24 range, the Acai Berry flavour is great and the drink is perfect for an intense gym session. I mixed mine with water and creatine monohydrate for an optimal workout.
The only negative aspect about this product is that it does contain calories, and while this isn’t the end of the world, whilst sticking to a calorie deficit you don’t want to be obtaining your calories through liquids. But at around 100Kcals per serving it won’t break you macro bank and may outweigh the calorie cost by providing you with the extra burst of energy needed during your workout.
Since receiving both the products earlier this month I have been using them daily and if you have been keeping up with my fitness updates you will know that my weights have been flying up and I am 100% sure that my helping hand from these supplements during rest and recovery has contributed to this success.
