Christmas is here, meaning only one thing, Christmas parties! OK maybe not the only thing but certainly something that you will be familiar with if you’ve worked in a company over the Christmas period.
Christmas parties are common practice, what doesn’t need to be is your style game over the festive period, for me this was my first official works Christmas party, I always end up missing them due to holidays to Norway over Christmas – poor me eh?
I knew I wanted to make an impression, so my search began for a velvet jacket, I found the perfect one over at Samuel Windsor, and luckily for me they were happy to collaborate!
I was confident that the velvet jacket would raise some eyebrows and it certainly did, I don’t think I’ve been complimented on a piece of clothing as much as I did on my jacket over the period of two days (at two separate work parties). The compliments were flowing in and everyone seemed to love my jacket as much as I did.
I paired the jacket with a classic black bow-tie to add a little more luxury, did I mention the bow-tie was velvet too? Double the luxury levels. A crisp white shirt, black trousers and black brogues, I kept the other elements neutral and classic and let the jacket speak for itself.
The quality of the jacket was superb, there’s a reason they have such positive reviews on their site, Samuel Windsor have smashed it out of the park with this one and offer a whole host of other formal-wear as well as more everyday clothing options.
My second works party was a Cirque-de-soleil style event with acrobats, fire-breathers and even a few casino tables – if that wasn’t enough then there was also fairground rides like the dodgems and waltzers – just what you want after a three-course meal and a few bevvies! Most of the fellas there were playing it safe with their black suits and fair play to them they looked well dressed, however there were a few risk takers like myself sporting space-print jackets and even a black and gold jacket. I didn’t see anyone else with a red velvet jacket and that really made me stand out, I’ll let the compliments from my colleagues decide if the risk was worth it – ps. it was!
So both the events were a roaring success and I can’t thank Samuel Windsor enough for helping me look the part and feel mad suave.
Here’s a more in-depth look at the jacket itself, I’ll let the pictures do the talking…
I really can’t recommend the company and the jacket enough, I am so impressed and the compliments I received back-up my feelings towards the jacket, I encourage you to take a look at their site, particularly their velvet jackets as they also sport some other striking colours such as Emerald Green, sure to wow your colleagues at your own event.
Enjoy your Christmas period, don’t let your style game slip, if anything bolster it and show it off! I certainly did, thanks to the help of Samuel Windsor.
